Review- Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation

Hello all! Before I begin this review I just wanted to let you know on a side note that I've decided to wrap up my "attempted series" of 2013 favourites as I wasn't going to well with actually creating posts, therefor skincare and lip posts/reviews will be put up throughout the course of this year I'm sure.

Anyway I'm FINALLY back with a review of a new foundation I've been trying out.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation is designed to "give skin a radiant boost,  made from a vitamin-rich fruit therapy formula for an even complexion". Part of the Healthy Mix Line of face products from Bourjois, all claiming to have an "instant anti-fatigue vitamin-rich fruit therapy formula with litchi, goji berries and pomegranates".
So what are my thoughts? Overall I really like this product. It blends into skin effortlessly, with a smooth gel texture, ideal to use with a brush or fingers. Coverage is light but buildable to medium, with a natural finish that begins to allow natural oils through with a dewy effect after about 4 hours. The lasting power isn't great, but average; set with my favourite powder (see review here) it starts to show signs of wear following roughly 5 hours. This foundation also has a light pleasant scent, great packaging, doesn't break me out and comes in at an affordable drugstore price of £10-11. Main downside for me is the shade selection, there's only 6 available- which is pretty poor, and they all seem to lean towards the lighter end of the spectrum. I have shade 51, Light Vanilla, which having moaned about the colour selection it is the perfect match for me.
I really enjoy using this product and will continue to repurchase if I don't find a better alternative.
Thanks so much for reading, what are your favourite foundations?

2013 Favourites- Eye Favs

Apologies for the lateness of this post following my "face favs", I plan on getting the next few of posts for this series up a little more swiftly. Anyway enough babbling, on with the products.

Firstly, eyeliner, two favourites for this option. My general everyday choice is the Maybelline gel liner; super pigmented, soft, long lasting and easy to use. I usually just use it for a thin line of definition along the upper lash line, but also great for a winged look for something more dramatic. For a softer look I'm also a massive fan of the L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Khol liner in Pure Espresso- so soft and creamy.
For brows my all time, most favourite thing ever is the Maybelline Master Shape Brow Pencil Duo, perfect colour (I wear soft brown), not too pigmented (so you don't end up with that really harsh drawn on look) and the little spoolie blender brush the opposite end is great to blend out colour. Super inexpensive too.
Throughout the year I've tried a few mascaras, both high end and drugstore, none of them really bothered me too much until I tried the combination of the two pictured here. Clarins Be Long, giving length and separation, also the plastic wand is tiny so great for bottom lashes. Secondly I use Clinique High Impact at the roots for some volume.
Finally, the UD Naked Basics Palette. I'm not adventurous at all when it comes to eyeshadows (and I don't ever plan on being!) a light wash of colour with some crease definition and I'm good to go! The selection of brown and neutral based colours are perfect for an everyday look, and the quality is amazing- soft, pigmented, blendable....I could go on.
Hope you've enjoyed this post and look out for the next of my, very belated.. 2013 favourites. Thanks for reading, love you all xx

2013 Favourites- Face Favs

So 2013 is now over, (sigh) and I have decided to do a series of posts talking you through my most loved products of the year. This idea was inspired by one of my favourite bloggers Lily Melrose, with different posts for different categories in the makeup/ beauty world. First up today face favourites.

Unfortunately there was no stand out foundation for me. Still on the hunt for a HG option that I adore, though if I could pick only one product to use in the "foundation family" it would have to be my Dr Jart BB Water Fuse BB Cream. The skincare/ makeup hybrid is just perfect for lazy days and warm summers. The coverage isn't really there for full makeup days, but extra can be made up with my concealer. See full review of this product here
For concealer, no question it's the Collection Lasting Perfection. A complete bore now in the beauty world do to the endless hype of it being the drugstore's "angel product". But it's truly worth all that said hype, high, high coverage, long lasting and inexpensive. Don't get me started on the awful leaky packaging though.....
Powder was a tricky toy up for me, but I think I've finally settled on the Maybelline Superstay 24h. Gives a matte but not at all cakey finish, setting makeup into place well. The waterproof 24h claim is a straight up lie, but I can forgive Maybelline for having such enthusiastic claims. I adore the packaging too, not a single rub off of the writing, with a sturdy flip lid and nice clear mirror.
For blush I've opted for Clinique's Iced Lotus. Definitely the most wearable of all my blushes fitting any look, the most perfect true pink, matching my cool toned skin. I love the slight shimmery highlight too- very glowy and pretty.
The only bronzer I've used this year is Bourjois's Delice De Poudre (aka the chocolate one). I like the not quite matte subtle shimmer it has and the nice warming "just been holidaying" look it gives my face. Smells delightful and there's a whole load of it there too so should last me ages!
Finally for this post, highlighter. A makeup must for 2013, bringing a healthy glow and shaping to my face. My favourite has to be my Pixi Energy Blush- though I only use the peachy highlight from it not the blush.
What have been your 2013 face favourites? Look out for a 2013 eye favourites post coming soon...

I'm Back!!

A massive sorry to everyone for the lack of posting over the past months. I seemed to have hit a bit of a rut. Fell out of love with blogging and began to become less confident and inspired with the whole concept. Don't get me wrong I still was a loyal reader to other's blogs, however I started to resent my own. I know of course that my little blog couldn't just gain followers and viewers overnight, with a few measley posts about things that interest me... those with great inspirational/ popular blogs had got there with hard work and persistence. Yet, being ever the lazy toad I am I decided that my blog was boring, and few people would find the time to read it, yet alone want to read it!! But after gaining new found confidence from the likes of those good old YouTubers, bloggers- and a new phone that will make blogging on the go a breeze....I've decided to try and give it another crack! You might get another ramble in a few weeks about how the whole thing was an awful idea and that I should delete this blog from the history of the interweb, but for now I'm going to think positive and have another go!!
Many thanks for reading....

Recommend Me #1

Apologies again for the unacceptably massive time gap between this post and my last (I would ramble on and give excuses but I think there are too many to name!) I wanted to come up with a new type of blog post that can be repeated (much like the cult "monthly favourites YT videos) and something which can benefit both you lovely readers and myself. So I have created the new Recommend Me post (as far as I know no one has written posts like this before- but lazily I've done no research to say that there aren't any others out there). The idea of this post is that when I run out of a product, I will recommend you either the one I've been using or a favourite I've used before, and as being ever curios to try new things, I'll ask you to recommend me your favourite (of whatever category the product is in) for me to try. Hope this sounds like a fun idea!? Lets get started...

I've adored my St. Ives Apricot Scrub for a long time. It's cheap, smells pleasant, made from natural ingredients (the exfoliating particles are made from ground apricot kernels- hence the name) and this product also doesn't break me out. The product is also available in 4 formulations depending on your skin type which is a big bonus, there's sensitive, oily, normal (the one I go for) and mature skin. However, I've used this for a while now and am interested to try something new. I have normal skin, with both dry and oily patches, and my budget leans towards the drugstore side. St Ives Scrubs are available from Boots, Superdrug and Supermarkets- priced at £4
Any suggestions?
Thanks for reading,
Sarah xx
P.S- Please feel free to copy this post idea on your blogs. Just let me know if you have in the comment section below, and put a link to my blog in the post when you write it.

Apologies for the picture, I threw my packaging away due to being old and wet from my shower. I ate a rather glorious selection of goodies over the Easter break, and also though that a nice light (less word heavy post was due) -or maybe I'm just lazy?!!. So as a massive cooking (and eating!) fan, I thought I'd share some of my favourites with you.....enjoy!!
